Description: Perfect for nano aquariums, Rotala Indica bonsai is a gorgeous, compact and dense-growing stem plant. Its most unique feature would have to be its thick stems that very few other stem plants exhibit. It is an ideal addition to the foreground or midground of most aquariums and can be trimmed regularly to encourage compact growth. At each cutting, the plant will usually form 2 or 3 new stems. When placed in optimal conditions, Ammania bonsai will typically grow new leaves with an orange-red hue.

Difficulty: As with all aquarium plants, Co2 injection and appropriate fertilisation are recommended for optimal health and growth. Rotala ammania bonsai is considered moderately difficult to grow aquarium plant. Generally speaking, it will require medium lighting and Co2 injection to grow well.

Emersed Growth: Rotala Indica grows very well emersed, exhibiting a pinkish-red stem that is particularly eye-catching. The transitioning period is also relatively easy. From our experience, we have not had any problems transitioning this plant between its two growth forms.

If you are unsure of the difference between emersed and submersed growth you can visit our blog post here. This is a short article written by us that is easy to understand for beginners in planted aquariums.
