Description: A very unique aquarium plant, displaying leaves have an unusual 'spike' that very few other plants have. Depending on the conditions it is grown in, its colouration will range from green to orange to red. Higher lighting and good Co2 injection tend to yield the latter. This plant is recommended as a midground or background plant due to its vertical growth.
Difficulty: As with all aquarium plants, Co2 injection and appropriate fertilisation are recommended for optimal health and growth. Medium lighting and Co2 injection are recommended for Mermaid Weed meaning that it will likely not thrive in a low-tech setup.
Emersed Growth: Proserpinaca Palustris grows very well in its emersed form. The leaves are much greener compared to the potential oranges and reds when grown submersed. The stems are also slightly thicker and the leaves are less jagged.
