Description: Characterised by its name, flame moss is a unique aquatic moss that grows in a distinct vertical pattern with spiralling fronds. It is estimated that each frond grows to a maximum of 8cm. It can also act as a shelter for baby fish and shrimp whereby they can graze on microorganisms that thrive in a moss-filled environment.
Difficulty: As with all aquarium plants, Co2 injection and appropriate fertilisation is recommended for optimal health and growth. Nonetheless, flame moss can be grown in low to moderate lighting without Co2.
Emersed Growth: Flame moss can be grown emersed and will maintain its vertical structure. it will require some sort of medium to bind to such as lava rock, an aquarium substrate or peat moss.
